Dear, Howard Johnston and Members of the Board
I am writing on behalf of the Equestrian Club at Utah State University they’re in need of your help. We have had a goal to build an Arena so that we can host competitions and conduct equine research classes for the equine program. I am writing to you because I have seen the other ways that you give to the community and would be proud to say that our program represents values that you stand for. I am only asking that your stores supply the Arena with the necessary supplies to outfit and operate the team. The total expense to your company would be $25,000.
Executive Summary:
Your stores have a family feel, a feeling of warmth and compassion. We know that you have helped communities with similar situations on a smaller scale. We recently read about the 4-H auction where you donated a five thousand dollar gift. We see this as a great opportunity to give back on a bigger stage. The young people that represent the University will also more noticeably represent you by using your products. As a club we pledge to represent you in a way that would make you and the University which we attend proud. Members of the club frequent the store here in Logan. They have made a list of supplies we would love to receive from your stores.

The problem is that this program has a great potential that is not currently being used. We have acres of land that are sitting empty. And while we are building an arena we only ask for the supplies from your stores to carry the team through the seasons’ events. Sponsoring us will create a partnership with your company and our community for years to come. Soon the day will come when people think college cowboys only go to C-A-L Ranch Stores.
We have come up with the proposed figure based on the supplies needed for each team member, the number of practices and events. We have ten team members and also two coaches. We practice 3 times a week and currently participate in ten events in a year. We are submitting the same figures to the sponsors we are asking to fund the arena and other projects in the program
I ask not that you show us you are capable of a quality of excellence that matches our fine Institution. I know that you can provide us with superior products that will make us superior to the competition. In turn this will make you superior to your competition as well.
To raise money for the Arena and to create an image of community I ask that you please have your decision made by the fifteenth of April, 2008. We are having an end of the year fundraiser during the first weekend of May and would love to announce the Sponsorship there.
If you need further information please feel free to contact team opportunity at 435-881-7789 or teamo@usu.edu. They are handling the fundraising for the club for the coming season and the funding of the arena as well.
I look forward to our continued friendship in the future.
Sincerely,

Dr. Noelle Cockett Dean,
Vice President for Extension
